SPRUCE TREE SHOP HISTORY

Spruce Tree Music was founded in 1980 by Wil Bremer. He's still here. Wil's first shop was in Akron, Ohio, opened in 1973, later relocated to Bloomington, Indiana. Spruce Tree Music has been on the same block these 30-plus years, and in the same location since 1984. We've long since outgrown this space, but the space--and the neighborhood--suit us too well to leave. The building was built in 1926, and our shop still has the original tin ceiling with it's one-and-only coat of paint. The space was an upholstery shop from 1926 to 1984--remarkable to think that we're only the second business occupants. We're in an old neighborhood commercial district, and the area still retains that community vibe.
