Original five string mahogany neck with carved heel, 27" scale ebony fretboard, pearl dot fret markers with star at 5th fret, 10-15'16" rim with Tubaphone tone ring, bracket band and 28 individual flanges, pie section resonator, original Grover geared tuners and Presto tailpiece with Vegaphone cover. Fretboard has been refretted and rebound, some wear on back of neck, some finish wear on resonator, correct style replacement hooks and nuts, original hard shell case with cloth Vega label. Fairbanks Vega Tubaphone No. 9 1921
10-15/16" rim, 27" scale, curly maple neck, fancy engraved pearl inlays in fretboard, peghead, backstrap and heel cap, elaborately carved heel, original Grover spring loaded pegs with pearl buttons. Plating wear on stretcher band and bracket band, and binding on treble side of fretboard has been replaced, otherwise excellent original condition. Rough condition bump case. $7350

Fairbanks Regent 1908
10-7/8" heavy spun over rim, 26" scale maple neck with bound ebony fretboard, engraved gryphon peghead inlay, engraved fretboard inlays, essentially the same neck as Whyte Laydie No. 2. The neck has a well repaired heel crack, a small chip out of the peghead veneer and has been french polished slightly darker than original. All parts and hardware are original. Fitted with new high quality calfskin head. Overall VG-EXC except as noted. New HSC $2000

10-15/16" rim, two section mahogany resonator, 26 hooks and ball end nuts, individual flanges (2 missing), 26" scale mahogany neck with bound pearwood fretboard. Neck is from 1922 (serial no. 48745), rim from 1930 (serial no. 91042). Dowel extended 3/16" to fit slightly larger rim, two small screw holes repaired in back of peghead, considerable wear to dyed pearwood fretboard but only moderate fret wear. Good sound and playability, overall VG-EXC. $750

Cherry sunburst top finish, oval soundhole bound with "rope" pattern and ivoroid, bound ebony fretboard, 24 frets, abalone fleur de lis peghead inlay, original adjustable ebony bridge, truss rod, original pickguard. Considerable finish wear on back of neck, some other wear, small repaired crack at lower end of heel, tuners are correct style and period but likely not original to this instrument. Good sound and playability, a nice Loar period instrument. VGC, newer HSC. $2650
