Pickups and Amps for Acoustic Instruments
We currently offer three lines of pickups and three lines of amplifiers specifically designed for use with acoustic instruments. Within those lines there are a lot of options. When you have us install a pickup system we'll help you sort through the most appropriate choices for your needs.
L. R. Baggs Amplifiers & Pickups
|
L. R. Baggs has a great new amp specifically designed for use with acoustic guitars. The Acoustic Reference Amplifier's most impressive feature is how great it sounds not just out in front, but off to the sides as well, dispersing 200 watts of high quality sound to the corners of a performance venue. A couple of very nice retro features: Separate VU meters for each channel (when's the last time you saw a VU meter?), and spring reverb, which sounds so much better than electronic reverb. This amp is housed in a cabinet that looks more like furniture than a techno box, but is still built to be taken on the road. The first of these amps (like ours) is the ³signature version, featuring quilted maple panels on the sides; future production will have mahogany sides. List price is $1599 and it's here, in stock.
L. R. Baggs established itself with the development of pickups designed for use with acoustic instruments. We stock and install 'em. Larrivee guitars now use L. R. Baggs for their factory-installed pickups. 'Nuff said.

We carry the full line
of Fishman
pickups for acoustic instruments, including the Rare Earth
Pickup series. Fishman offers a wide variety of pickups for all sorts of settings and instruments. Their products are reliable and well-researched.
To compliment the pickup in your instrument, Fishman offers their Loudbox acoustic instrument amps. The Loudbox Performer (130 watts) and Loudbox 100 (100 watts) are mainstays. Their newest offering, the Fishman Loudbox Mini, promises power and clean tone in a smaller, lighter package. It's a 60 watt, 2-channel amp that includes digital reverb and chorus and weighs just under 20 lbs.

B-Band Transducers
B-Band pickups work fundamentally differently from most acoustic guitar pickups, and produce a sound much more faithful to the acoustic qualities of your instrument without needing to use a preamp. The technology for B-Band pickups was first developed in Finland.
Ultrasound Amplifiers
Ultrasound Amps are designed for use with acoustic instruments--not just an afterthought design from an electric amp company. Models range from 30watts to 200watts in a number of configurations.
