Augustino LoPrinzi builds high grade ukuleles, handmade in Florida by Augustino and his daughter Donna LoPrinzi, both experienced builders of classical and steel-string guitars. We have been dealers for LoPrinzi classicals for a long time, and once in a while come across LoPrinzi steel strings from the 1970s, when Augie first came to prominence as an instrument builder.

Kiwaya Ukuleles

Kiwaya ukuleles are built in Japan, where the company has been building ukuleles since 1955. They are known for building high grade instruments that are both light and responsive. In addition to their Artist and Master series instruments, they have have an Eco series, built with extremely thin layers of koa or mahogany.

Ohana Ukuleles

We discovered Ohana Ukuleles several winters ago when we attended a music industry trade show. There must have been 30 companies offering ukuleles, but we liked what we saw of Ohana ukes the best among the offerings of decent quality but modestly priced instruments. We're impressed with their sound, solid construction and straightforward looks.
We carry soprano, concert, tenor and baritone models featuring all solid mahogany and all solid koa. Prices for all-solid wood models range from $135-$399 (although we're quite impressed with the $52 SK-10S and $99 SK-20S models, too).

Ukulele Strings
D'Addario has developed a new line of strings in conjunction with popular ukulele string manufacturer Aquila. D'Addario Nyltech strings are designed to produce a warm yet punchy tone. We have them for all ukulele sizes.
Fremont Ukulele strings are made from fluorocarbon material, which is thinner but denser than standard nylon. These black fluorocarbon strings produce a very clear and crisp tone, very responsive with good projection.We stock standard soprano and concert sets, as well as sets with low G 4th strings for soprano, concert and tenor ukes.
We also carry other D'Addario ukulele strings as well as GHS black nylon strings for soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles.
Ukulele Straps
For Soprano and Concert Ukulele, we carry straps support the instrument from underneath and hook into the soundhole. They're adjustable for length. There's a photo of a selection of them to the right. $14.95.
For Tenor and Baritone Ukuleles, we have straps that are primarily designed for mandolin but which we've found work quite nicely for larger ukuleles. They're slimmer than guitar straps and come in a fun array of colors and patterns. You can see our current selection on our Souldier Mandolin Straps page.
